[1]Forthe kingdom of heaven is like unto a certain householder, which went out at the dawning of the day to hire laborers into his vineyard. [2]Andhe agreed with the laborers for a penny a day, and sent them into his vineyard. [3]Andhe went out about the third hour, and saw others standing idle in the market place, [4]Andsaid unto them, Go ye also into my vineyard, and whatsoever is right, I will give you: and they went their way. [5]Againhe went out about the sixth and ninth hour, and did likewise. [6]Andhe went about the eleventh hour, and found other standing idle, and said unto them, Why stand ye here all the day idle? [7]Theysaid unto him, Because no man hath hired us. He said to them, Go ye also into my vineyard, and whatsoever is right, that shall ye receive. [8]Andwhen even was come, the master of the vineyard said unto his steward, Call the laborers, and give them their hire, beginning at the last, till thou come to the first. [9]Andthey which were hired about the eleventh hour, came and received every man a penny. [10]Nowwhen the first came, they supposed that they should receive more, but they likewise received every man a penny. [11]Andwhen they had received it, they murmured against the master of the house, [12]Saying,These last have wrought but one hour, and thou hast made them equal unto us, which have born the burden, and heat of the day. [13]Andhe answered one of them, saying, Friend, I do thee no wrong: didst thou not agree with me for a penny? [14]Takethat which is thine own, and go thy way: I will give unto this last, as much as to thee. [15]Isit not lawful for me to do as I will with mine own? Is thine eye evil because I am good? [16]Sothe last shall be first, and the first last: for many are called, but few chosen. [17]AndJesus went up to Jerusalem, and took the twelve disciples apart in the way, and said unto them, [18]Behold,we go up to Jerusalem, and the Son of man shall be delivered unto the chief Priests, and unto the Scribes, and they shall condemn him to death, [19]Andshall deliver him to the Gentiles, to mock, and to scourge, and to crucify him: but the third day he shall rise again. [20]Thencame to him the mother of Zebedees children with her sons, worshipping him, and desiring a certain thing of him. [21]Andhe said unto her, What wouldest thou? She said to him, Grant that these my two sons may sit, the one at thy right hand, and the other at thy left hand in thy kingdom. [22]AndJesus answered and said, Ye know not what ye ask. Are ye able to drink of the cup that I shall drink of, and to be baptized with the baptism that I shall be baptized with? They said to him, We are able. [23]Andhe said unto them, Ye shall drink indeed of my cup, and shall be baptized with the baptism, that I am baptized with, but to sit at my right hand, and at my left hand, is not mine to give: but it shall be given to them for whom it is prepared of my Father. [24]Andwhen the other ten heard this, they disdained at the two brethren. [25]ThereforeJesus called them unto him, and said, Ye know that the lords of the Gentiles have domination over them, and they that are great, exercise authority over them. [26]Butit shall not be so among you: but whosoever will be great among you, let him be your servant. [27]Andwhosoever will be chief among you, let him be your servant. [28]Evenas the Son of man came not to be served, but to serve, and to give his life for the ransom of many. [29]Andas they departed from Jericho, a great multitude followed him. [30]Andbehold, two blind men, sitting by the wayside, when they heard that Jesus passed by, cried saying, O Lord, the Son of David, have mercy on us. [31]Andthe multitude rebuked them, because they should hold their peace: but they cried the more, saying, O Lord, the Son of David, have mercy on us. [32]ThenJesus stood still, and called them, and said, What will ye that I should do to you? [33]Theysaid to him, Lord, that our eyes may be opened. [34]AndJesus moved with compassion touched their eyes, and immediately their eyes received sight, and they followed him.
